Darcy Taurua
Technician / Engineer
With more than 40 years in the plastics industry, Darcy Taurua has seen, shaped, and molded just about everything imaginable. That depth of experience makes him one of Plastec’s most trusted hands.
His role spans the full breadth of the operation, from die setting and tool maintenance to machine set-ups and overseeing grounds maintenance, and there’s little in the workshop he hasn’t mastered.
Life Outside Work
Away from the factory floor, Darcy is a passionate rider. A Harley man through and through, he recently traded his Fatboy for a Triumph Rocket, proving he’s never one to stand still.
Darcy is equally committed to his community, giving his time as a coach of the local 1st XV rugby team. It’s a role he’s well qualified for. In his playing days, Darcy represented Bay of Plenty, where he earned the nickname “Twinkle Toes” for a goose step that left defenders grasping at thin air.
These days, his favourite team is his three grandchildren, who take up most of his spare time.
